Can I afford to move out?

The real monthly cost of living on your own.

Moving out fails when the rent fits but everything else does not. Add rent, utilities, food, transport, internet and debts to your income, and this tool tells you if you are ready, almost ready, or still a few months of saving away — with the exact numbers.

Budgets are for planning, not a verdict on your life — a shared apartment, a cheaper neighborhood or a side income changes the math fast.

Frequently asked questions

What rule of thumb does the calculator use?

Housing should stay around 30% of income, and all basics (rent, utilities, food, transport, internet, debts) under 50% — leaving at least 20% free. Your savings must also cover the deposit, furniture and first bills before you sign anything.

I meet the numbers but it still feels tight. What then?

Trust the feeling: run the calculator with your real past three months of spending, add a 10% buffer, and consider a roommate or a cheaper neighborhood. Moving out is cheaper to delay by a few months than to reverse.
